Staying active on Salt Spring is easy, so tie up your sneakers, grab your racket, clubs or yoga mat and get out there.
Yoga practice has a long history on Salt Spring. Whether you are looking for a beginner class, teacher training or a month long retreat, a multitude of island studios and teachers offer many options. Ganges Yoga Studio is just a few minutes walk from the main village and hosts several classes every day. Mats and other equipment are provided.
There are also two fully-equipped gyms in Ganges. North End Fitness offers cardio and weight machines and hosts daily fitness classes. Living Strong Studio has state-of-the-art training equipment and personal training.
If you want to get out on the green, there are two 9-hole golf courses and driving ranges. The Salt Spring Golf and Country Club has a par-36-course and fully licensed restaurant. Blackburn Meadows, situated on popular local swimming lake, was the first organic golf course in Canada. Both courses rent clubs and power carts.
There are public tennis courts, a running track, playground and playing fields located near the golf course in Portluck Park. There is a disc golf course in Mouat Park located near Artspring in Ganges and a skateboard park beside Salt Spring Island Middle School.
Islanders are very proud of their new indoor swimming pool located on Rainbow Road just a few minutes walk from town. The pool is open daily year round for free swims, length swims and offers a wide variety of lessons and classes.
